of the handheld GPS, knowing your position accurately is now available. A basic unit will give you
latitude, longitude, and altitude. The more advanced units will allow you to see your position on either a
nautical chart, topographic map, or highway map. For boaters, an understanding of principles of navigation is
required to properly utilize the GPS in conjunction with standard paper charts.
