Thanksgiving Dinner on Board by Fran Stott

Maybe it’s your last trip of the season or a tradition to go boating over the Thanksgiving weekend.

For boats equipped with two burners, the following is an idea for preparing Thanksgiving dinner on board.

Equipment used for preparing the dinner is as follows:

Fry pan with lid or spatter screen

Double boiler with a steamer insert

Shopping list

Turkey – burgers, cutlets, or steaks

Potatoes

Favorite vegetable – green beans, broccoli, carrots, etc

Box of stuffing mix

Turkey gravy mix

Cranberry sauce

Method

Use the fry pan for cooking the turkey

Double boiler – bottom – peeled potatoes

Steamer – vegetable of choice – depending on how you like your vegetables, the steamer can be added after the potatoes have a chance to start boiling.

Top – stuffing (note the amount of water needed and if it needs to be hot before starting the rest of the cooking, or I usually use extra water for the potatoes then take out the required amount for the stuffing once the water is boiling).

When the turkey is cooked, it can be transferred to the top of the double boiler to keep warm on top of the stuffing.

Prepare gravy in fry pan according to directions on package.

Enjoy
