(NC)—Summer is just around the corner – are you and your boat prepared? Now is the time to service your boat and ensure its equipment is up-to-date. Why not take advantage of a pleasure craft courtesy check?

Courtesy checks are offered free of charge by Transport Canada or, in some areas of Canada, the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary or other boating and water safety organizations. At your request, a qualified professional will board your boat and review with you the safety equipment required by law. Your boat's other equipment will also be inspected and any deficiencies identified.

Start your summer on a safe note by getting a courtesy check. More information on courtesy checks and equipment standards is available at www.boatingsafety.gc.ca or call toll-free
1-800-267-6687.
