Personal Flotation Devices (PFDs).

Boaters choose their safety style

(NC)—Recreational boaters have options when it comes to lifejackets and personal flotation devices (PFDs). Manufacturers of PFDs now have the flexibility to incorporate comfort and fashion, meaning you have a wider range of approved types and colours to choose from. PFDs come in a variety of styles and inflatable configurations, but orange, yellow and red will keep you most visible when in the water.

When choosing, remember that Canadian boats must be equipped with Canadian-approved PFDs or lifejackets of appropriate sizes for each person on board. More information on what to look for in a lifejacket or PFD is available at www.boatingsafety.gc.ca  or call toll-free
