Standard Horizon HX850S Handheld Radio and GPS Waterproof and it floats. This is the radio I own. Waypoint Marine, on Harbour Rd in Sidney, is a dealer for this radio and the PFD below.

This is the Mustang MD3183 - Deluxe Inflatable PFD with HIT (auto hydrostatic activation) which I have used extensively. Comfortable and easy to wear.

I have just received a new MD3153 HD inflatable. All the benefits of the MD3183 plus the heavy duty fabric improves puncture and abrasion resistance and is easy to clean. Other new innovations include a damage-tolerant inflator cover - no more cracked inspection windows. I will post my observations after I have a chance to use it. Our son has used this PFD two mornings on his job and his comment was "Way more comfortable".

Hello!  I realize that it’s a bit early to be thinking about sailing next summer, but I am hoping to contact skippers who are in need of crew members for cruising and/or racing during July and August 2009.  My plan is to spend most of my summer aboard in order to gain some coastal sailing experience and to hone my skills.  I would like to do this by volunteering myself as a crew member for anybody who could use a hand on deck in the Vancouver / Strait of Georgia region.  I have a lot of small boat sailing experience (Pirateer and Hobie 16) and some coastal keelboat experience including my CYA Basic Cruising Standard which I earned last summer aboard Glen MacKenzie’s 42’ sloop Kinohi out of North Vancouver (Mosquito Creek).  I hope to purchase my own boat in 2010.

If you could use a hand yourself or direct me toward interested skippers I would be very appreciative.

I am not looking for any pay or compensation, just the experience and miles under the keel.
